The Importance of a Pre-Shot Routine

Hitting that clutch shot under pressure is a culmination of a well thought out game plan that will have you prepared both physically and mentally when it comes time to hit that shot. To perform well under high pressure situations, a pre-shot routine is a must!

Here are three essential aspects of a great pre-shot routine:

  1. See it:  Whether it’s a long drive, a chip, or a putt, see in your mind’s eye the way you would like to perform the shot. Get detailed. See the trajectory, the curve, the way the ball will land etc. The more detailed the vision, the more focused you will become.
  2. Feel it:  Take practice swings that will help you to feel exactly the type of shot you are trying to pull off.
  3. Trust it:  The last aspect of a great Pre-Shot Routine is to simply stay committed. Remain focused on the picture you saw, and the feel you had during your practice swing or swings. Then allow the shot to happen
