THE ROAD TO PERFECTION Early in Tiger Woods career, while under the tutelage of Hank Haney, Tiger learned the “The 9 Shot Drill’’  The larger part to being the best ball striker you can be culminates when you are able to successfully hit 9 shots on command. These shots are: low, medium and high trajectory that go straight, draw or fade. If you are able to easily curve the ball both ways and control your trajectory on command, that is an indicator that you are swinging the golf club on a great swing plane. Swings that are too upright or too flat take away any golfer’s ability to be versatile with their curvature and trajectory. Swinging the club on plane also gives you the best opportunity to be equally confident with woods and irons, uneven lies, and both partial and full shots. Practice Like Tiger: Next time you are at the range, work on the opposite shot shape and trajectory that you are accustomed to hitting. For example, if you tend to hit draws or hooks, work on fading the golf ball and vise versa. If you tend to hit the ball too high or low, work on the opposite.
