Strengthen Your Game With This Performance Psychology Technique

Heading into this year’s Ryder Cup, players from both the American and European teams will be looking to be in a great state of mind in order to give themselves the best chance at success.  A great mindset is one that can surely be trained.

One tool you can use and add to your arsenal is your own “Best Hits List.” This list can be a handwritten list, an audio list, or even a video montage of some the best shots you’ve ever hit.

Many of the best golfers in the world have their own highlight reel in some form. Just like them, here are 3 reasons why it can be very helpful to have your own highlight reel at your disposal:

1). Pre-Round Preparation
As golfers warm up their bodies before they play, many of the best golfers in the world take time to get positive momentum going. Taking a couple of minutes to really take in what it felt like to perform specific shots at your best, is a sure way to walk to the first tee with more confidence.

2). Helps You Stay On Track
Struggles on the course can stem from numerous causes.  Spending more time focusing on your good shots will help get you re-energized, motivated, and inspired to reach your goals as a player.

3). It Gives You a Mental Edge
Remembering yourself at your best will give you an excellent chance to experience new and even greater shots.

Whether your best shots have happened on a driving range, practice putting green, or under intense tournament pressure, taking time to remember your successes will be a great asset for you as you continue to grow as a player.
