Be Aware:
Many golfers tend to get so tied up with hitting the ball straight that overtime, they tend to unconsciously ingrain a shorter, tighter, less fluid swing that ends up zapping them of distance and compromises their long term potential.
Try A Change Of Perspective:
Embrace the idea that swinging faster is one of the most important aspects towards reaching your potential.
Two Big Reasons Why:
1) A little bit of extra speed matched with solid contact shortens the course immensely. Imagine if you could gain 10 yards with each club in your bag. Let’s say you typically hit 35-40 long shots a round, you would be taking 350-400 yards off of the scorecard. This makes scoring much easier.
2) With speed comes accuracy. Simply put, you will be hitting 7 and 8 irons, where you once hit 5 or 6 irons, and be able to hit 3 woods where you once needed to hit drivers. Being able to use a more lofted club, due to an increase of swing speed, will allow you to become more accurate. Using more loft puts more backspin on your ball which in turn counteracts side spin and thus creates straighter shots. The result: more fairways and more time spent sticking your approach shots. |
