New Year. New You!
TAKE YOUR GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL!
As we begin the new year with our newly set resolutions, let’s also set realistic, achievable goals to improve your golf game.
Here’s a few things to think about as you take on 2018: Setting realistic, achievable goals is paramount to maintaining motivation, increasing confidence, and building excitement for the game. Whether your goals are very small or they are goals that could take a few years to achieve, it’s important to know how to break it out so you can set the proper process goals. Keep in mind that sports studies have shown it can take up to 3-5 thousand proper repetitions to make one swing change an unconscious habit.
Here’s a quick checklist on how you can begin to improve your game this winter!
1). Ask yourself- What is the vision for your golf game both short and long term? To what level do you want to take your game?
2). What is your most prevalent ball flight error? Each correction you make in your swing needs to correlate to your ball flight. As time goes on, and as you improve, your swing will begin to look more and more like the pros! For example, assess the following: Do you tend to hook or slice when things fall apart? Do you hit it fat or thin when you miss? Do you tend to hit shots off the toe or heel of the club? Also, how are are your partial shots (3/4 swings, 1/2 swings etc.).
3). Establish how much time you have to practice. How often can you make it to a practice facility? How much time can you dedicate to doing proper practice swings at home?
Getting clear about all of these three areas will help to put together the perfect plan that will have you on the fast track to becoming the golfer you really want to be. Let’s make 2018 your best year yet!
